RAYS OF HOPE BRIGHTENS UP BBL WITH FOOD PARCELS

We write this story with our hearts filled with joy and hope that there are some few organizations like Rays of Hope that cares for the people of Alexandra.

The Blue Birds ladies have received a donation of food parcels from the organization, Rays of Hope. The food parcels we each delivered to the Blue Birds Ladies at their homes. This act of kindness from Rays of Hope is what makes us believe that our community still has some good people in it.

The girls were very happy to have received the food parcels, as some of the girls were finding it quite difficult to get by during this country’s lockdown. One team member had this to say,” Thank you so much for the food parcels, they have come in handy and have they helped me and my family a lot for the next two months due to the Corona Virus. I don’t think the grocery we have bought would’ve lasted us in the number of days we were given for the country’s lockdown. Thank you so much”

Alexandra is quite a tough township to live in, especially for young people. It is quite difficult to strive for the best here and achieving your goals due to the harsh realities the people of Alexandra have to deal with daily. So having Rays of Hope doing this for the people of this community has met the people halfway with their effort to alleviate their daily struggles.

Coach Malvin Khumalo had this to say with regards to this,” The food relief aid from the Rays of Hope to our players is much of need and highly appreciated. Given the economic conditions, our players are coming from the lockdown would have crippled many families and by this great initiative from Rays of Hope gives indeed a sense of Hope to our players. It shows the care that goes beyond the football boundaries. It is such a relationship that we need to keep and it shows the spirit of Ubuntu( Humanity).”

Words cannot describe how thankful we are for this act of kindness from Rays of Hope. We are indeed blessed to have such organizations in our communities that strive to do good for its people.

We will forever remember this act of kindness from Rays of Hope, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

" Rays of Hope is assisting in reducing the spread of the infection between people by providing food and health-related products. While isolation is very difficult and medical facilities are limited, by providing non-perishable food, basic medicine, soap and sanitizers, they are able to reduce the need for infected people to go shopping for food and travel to doctors except in severe cases, while also enabling improved cleanliness and hygiene". These were the words from Mr Sihle Mooi, Executive Director of Rays of Hope.
