CAN THE BIRDS FLY IN THE MAP 2016 TOURNAMENT?
The Maimane Alfred Phiri winter games are upon us and Blue Birds ladies will be at centre stage as they are to protect their turf and show their loyal fans all around the township as to why the team is worthy of their undivided support as the games are about to grace our township .
The games will kick-off on Monday 27th June 2016, the kick-off will be at Alexandra stadium and 3 square simultaneously. The annual tournament promises to be a master piece, as 16 teams from both the Sasol and Absa leagues respectively will be at loggerheads for the prize money of R25 000 and bragging rights for the whole year till the next edition. The birds will be looking to do better than what they did last year when they managed to reach the reach the semi finals in an appetizing match where they faced off against their neighbours Alexandra Ladies, a match the birds lost 2-0. The birds have been preparing for this tournament and will be looking to beat all the stiff opposition in their group to reach the next stage of the competition
