Birds visit an orphanage!

Birds visit an orphanage!

Blue birds’ technical team and players from U/15, U/17 and senior team took their time out to visit an orphanage home in Marlboro. To some it was a day for voting in the 2016 municipal elections but to Blue birds players and technical team it was a matter of giving their time to needy as they visited Ikhaya Lomusa, which is situated 10 minutes away from Stjwetla, an informal settlement in the outskirts of Juskei river in Alexandra north of Johannesburg. The team had a few goodies that they donated to home, of it was out of their own pockets.

Some brought clothes that they did not use anymore and some brought food packs which they took from their homes and some donated money to buy a few food packs. The team got busy immediately after they got to the home, they divided themselves into 3 groups, one doing house chores, the other group watering plants, and the other group on cleaning duty. The team was there for a whole 2 hours and it was pretty much enjoyed both by the home and the team.

The team's technical team vows to make this visit a first of many, that the will be going in order to teach the girls some sense of responsibility and for them to give back to the less fortunate. The technical team feels that their social responsibility pillar has been lying dormant for far too long and that it is time to change that.
