Interview with Blue Birds player Noxolo "Zongo" Gcina

We caught up with Blue Birds Ladies Football Academy player Noxolo “Zongo” Gcina, this will be her first ever MAP Games. This interview was a way of founding out from the players perspective regarding the readiness of the team prior to the 2016 MAP Games.

 1. How is the atmosphere in the team prior to the MAP games 2016 edition?

Noxolo: The atmosphere is good because there are two groups because we don’t face Sundowns because we’ve played against it four times with no win, truth be told that makes me nervous, but in this tournament I wish we could beat Sundowns if we face off against it.

 2. From your own point of view do you feel like you are ready and prepared enough?

Noxolo: Yeah I am ready and prepared enough, because every time the ball is in my feet I enjoy each and every moment.

 3. On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate the readiness of the team? And how did you arrive at that figure?

Noxolo: Six according to me, to be honest I feel like most of us are not definitely focused, some are still full of playing where as in our hearts we say we want to win the tournament, we are training yes, but on a serious we are not showing the hunger to win the tournament.

 4. This is your first time ever playing in the tournament of this magnitude do you feel like stage fright will be clouding your mind before the start of the tournament?

Noxolo: Yes to be honest, but the people of Alexandra will be wowed as I am the young “Zongo” and I so talented like the name I’ve just said.

 5. Your team mates have dubbed you “Zongo”; do you feel like you will live up to expectations of that name?

Noxolo: Obvious because I just didn’t get the name out of nowhere, I might be dubbed “Zongo” but I won’t follow in his footsteps.
