Birds held to a draw, away!

 

The game started very slow, but Blue Birds had shown their hunger of winning the game in first 10 minutes into the game. As the game progressed 10 minutes later Blue Birds were 1-0 ahead thanks to a well a taken curler by Noxolo "Zongo” Gcina. On the 30th minute Croesus Ladies centre brought down Vangile "Nyathama" Mnguni on the edge of the box, Zongo stood up and took the set piece. The keeper was beaten with no chance of getting to ball and it was 2-0 to the birds.

Just 5 minutes before the break there was a set piece on the edge of the box on the same spot and Zongo stood up again and to the set piece, she was unlucky this time around as her effort hit the crossbar. At halftime the score was 2-0 in favour of Blue birds. It was soon into the second half and Croesus Ladies pulled one back, the half progressed both teams were evenly balanced. It only took a mistake from the Birds back four which saw Croesus on level with goals at 2-2.

The game progressed at 2-2 and both teams continued to make chance, but never converted them. Blue birds had a chance to be in front again as they got a set piece just outside the box, Zongo stood up again to carry weight of Alexandrians which saw her effort hit the crossbar yet again. The game ended at 2-all, meaning that Blue birds failed to cement their place on 3rd position with 9 points level with University of Johannesburg. Blue Birds are now 4th on the log with 7 points from 6 games.

Their next match is against Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Fc on the 6th of August at 13:00 Mehlareng Stadium.
