BIRDS VS NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY OF VALL FRIENDLY

After a long break without game, the first team took on North West University of Vaal at Alexandra Stadium on Saturday the 16th of July. The match gave the team a good platform to prepare for the upcoming league game with Croesus ladies on 23 July.

The team showed and great positive spirit, we created a lot of chances as we should have went into halftime leading by at least 3 goals, unfortunately those chances were narrowly missed by Noxolo, Tshwarelo and Vangile. The game saw new faces being introduced, Thoko Mkosi being promoted from our development and Deveney Rhoda from Eldorado Park and HPC joining the Birds. The u/17 SA international fitted well into the team as she gave a solid performance on the right back. With these kinds of additions the team’s future looks quite promising.

Nontobeko Ngwenya and Zimi Xabanisa were added on in the second half to try and get a goal, it nearly paid of as Nontobeko chiped the keeper but the power on the ball was too much to control it in. Vangile Mnguni like in many situations came up with a good delivery of a cross targeted for Nontobeko who missed the chance however the ball fall kindly for Noxolo who did not mess up and slotted the ball in the back of the net giving the Birds a lead and eventually a win. This will sure boost the team prior to the league game as we seek to gather momentum.
